The water superseded.
The grayness.
The darkness.
Nightmares into the sun.
All this time later,
And the levees could still break.
What became of this place?
Can probably still smell the stench
Of systematic failure.
Of silent racism.
Of ignored poverty.
It happens again…
They drop poisonous tablets into water.
Its lead.
Politicians play monopoly on worn-out desks,
With fabricated budgets and ancient computers.
If you look closely, you can still see the lead left behind.
And humans are still drifting away into dirty water.
How can people be persecuted in their own country,
For doing nothing but trying to have a piece of a complicated American Dream.
