Rising, I catch a glimpse of his light
Faint, fleeting
He sinks below the horizon and
I sit alone engulfed in a pale reflection
He rises, a new dawn awaking
As I fall
Deeper
Down down down
I grasp at the horizon
His first rays blind me
I’m shadowed in his light
When I look,
The darkness swallows my hope
Swallows me whole
I sink further
He shines on
His rays become brighter
Lingering in the sky
Our distance decreases
I birth anew radiating in his warmth
Yet, his light smothers me
Rays splinter into my battered surface
As we dance at eclipse
For a moment I am full, beaming
I lock eyes though he does not see mine
I soak all of him in
The sky begins to descend
Taking him with it
And I reach out
Only to fall again
He blankets me
A cover for his secrets
And bounds away as I slowly fade
He is the sun
I am the moon
Bound in an endless chase
