What were some of the biggest challenges or struggles you faced while building Kick It By EP, and how did you overcome them?
The biggest struggle was believing that I could launch the brand, grow it and sustain interest in the content. The idea started four [4] years ago and in the beginning researching and scheduling guests was the most difficult part. Once the audience started responding, it fueled me to keep going. I love the community that we are still building and how we have inspired many people.
Can you tell us about a moment or experience that has been particularly inspirational or impactful on your journey?
The one year anniversary of the Kick It By EP. When I was able to share all the women’s stories that we had shared. That was a pivotal moment.
What are some important lessons you’ve learned throughout your entrepreneurial journey that you would like to share with others?
It’s hard. So hard. Especially in the beginning, however you have to keep going. Get up everyday and keep your eye on the prize. It’s not going to be easy, however, it’ll be worth it.
How do you stay motivated and inspired, especially during difficult times or setbacks?
The community is what keeps me inspired and motivated. When I receive messages from people who are engaging with the content. The feedback is rewarding and keeps me going.
What role has education played in shaping your business and personal growth?
Content development was new to me. Reinventing myself using my voice was so new that I needed to learn how to develop questions that would start a conversation. I researched how others interviewed people and how to repurpose content. Educating myself has been key to the success I’ve seen to date.
In what ways does Kick It By EP pay it forward for women, and why is this mission important to you?
Highlighting women is so important because people need to know their stories. The stories of success, struggles and most importantly a person’s story can help others. The platform is paying it forward by highlighting people’s journeys and key insights to help educate others.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or individuals looking to start their own creative projects?
It sounds so simple, just start. Start. Once you start, you’ll get into a grove and the rest will fall into place.
How do you balance the creative aspects of your work with the business side of things?
My eye is always on the product and building community. The business side is equally as important. To stay on track, I set specific time aside to focus on the business side.
Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for Kick It By EP in the coming years?
The goal is to launch a merchandise line. Merchandise that is focused on females. Think of inspiration in a box. More to come this year.
