Youth

Society’s ‘perfect,’ something we cannot obtain
By the young girl in the mirror, seeking.
Instead of perfection, flaws are sustained
Despite the makeup, blemishes still peeking.

Magazine photos we look at most days
Photoshopped images fill the pages
Desired looks to be the source of praise
Couldn’t ever fathom our looks on a runway stage

Can we be ‘perfect’ if we don’t know how?
Defined differently by each pretty face
‘Perfect’ is something we all hope for now
No more practical beauty to chase
Perfect is something that everyone strives
We’re all perfect and that can’t be deprived.
