i see her so healthy

skin radiating … glistening

she’s fought off being angry with herself –

valuable to everyone around her

she can show up and be present for them … her

the long, impressionable nights became pathetic

she could rest and recharge

depression no longer weighed down on her

because the reality

for her was that it was all an illusion

to reactions of external feedback

so deeply ingrained

that the days became one

recognition was unrecognizable

and she couldn’t see herself anymore

but I see her – living and rhythmically

breathing to her own sound

she took care of herself

fought her fight

to save herself

she’s beautiful.
